How to Maintain Carpeting

Soft fabrics such as carpeting trap dirt, dust and other allergens. In addition, these fabrics tend to age fast, especially if you don’t properly care for them. Increasing the longevity of your carpet can save you money and keep your carpets looking new and manicured. Whether you steam clean or use a powder-base cleaner, it’s important to vacuum the area first. You want to collect as much debris as possible. Next, you can either steam clean or apply the cleaner. If you use the powder, apply

a thin layer and then use a short-bristled floor brush to work the powder into the fibers. When the carpet is dry or the powder has settled in long enough, vacuum one last time. Important Note: Carpets tend to sprout loose fibers every now and then, but instead of pulling them out, gently cut them. This will make the sprout flush with the floor and will prevent you from creating holes in your carpet.
