Repurpose Rain Gutters to Grow a Vertical Garden

Faced with a small, shady lawn, poor soil, and a short Alaskan summer Suzanne Forsling created a vertical garden to meet her gardening needs… out of rain gutters! She found inexpensive, plastic gutters at the local big box hardware store, drilled drainage holes in the bottom, and attached them to the side of her home with the requisite hardware. Fill with soil, plants,

and voila… instant vertical garden! Susan’s gutter garden is a great solution for anyone with limited space or poor soil – and would work equally well attached to fences or deck and balcony railings. Read all about the project at the Juneau Empire . (Discovered via New World Geek )
