Our home in Newton, MA is currently undergoing a significant renovation, part of which includes a deep energy retrofit that we hope will reduce our energy use by as much as 70%. Our project includes the addition of 4 inches of rigid foam to the home exterior (under the new siding), air sealing the attic and basement, adding insulation to the attic, sprayfoaming the basement walls, and insulation the basement floor. Additionally, we will be removing our oil furnace

and tank and installing a very downsized heating system (still under development). Our expectation is to be an all electric house so as to avoid any internal combustion and add a heat recovery ventilation system.
