Striking Chair Design : Douglas?s LumBar Stool

Reflecting the way in which stone is developed from thousands of layers of earth movement, James Douglas ?s LumBar stool is a striking chair design that would be a very powerful accent for organic spaces (especially homes with attached bar sections). Developed from stacked CNC-cut plywood around a single 12mm steel bar, the LumBar stool appears almost dangerous in how it is strangely reminiscent of the edges of the Grand Canyon, the sides of steeply sliced waterfalls in Venezuela or crumbling desert rock formations in Jordan. This stool would be an amazing accent in wide organic spaces that

use a lot of natural materials and colors. As its made of plywood, it would be great to see a designer use this for an outdoor bar or lounge. Finally I don’t think that is to comfortable and I can?t believe one can be sitting there for a long time without a cushion.
